A PROCLAMATION TO PROVIDE FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS’ PENSION PROCLAMATION No. 714/2011


PART SIX

INVALIDITY PENSION AND GRATUITY

23. Invalidity Pension

1/A public servant who has completed at least 10 years of service and separates from service due to health problems preventing him from engaging in any remunerated work shall receive invalidity pension for life.

2/A senior government official or member of parliament who has served at least one term and separates from service due to health problems shall receive invalidity pension for life.

24. Amount of Invalidity Pension

The invalidity pension payable in accordance with Article 23 of this Proclamation shall be calculated as provided under Article 20 hereof.

25. Invalidity Gratuity

1/A public servant who has not completed 10 years of service and separates from service on becoming unfit for service due to health problems shall receive invalidity gratuity.

2/A senior government official or member of parliament who has served for less than one full term and separates from service due to health problems shall receive invalidity gratuity.

26. Amount of Invalidity Gratuity

The gratuity payable in accordance with Article 25 of this Proclamation shall be calculated as provided under Article 22 hereof.

27. Reimbursement of Pension Contributions

1/ A public servant who separates from service:

a)due to resignation after completing not less than 10 years, but prior to completing 20 years of service; or

b)for any other cause other than those specified by this Proclamation prior to 20 years of service;

shall be paid an amount equal to the total pension contributions made by him excluding contributions of the employer.

2/A public servant who separates from service due to resignation prior to completing 10 years of service shall not be entitled to any benefit.

  1. I need ur help ,to know about pension /retirment payment ,i am working for 5yr and still on food security programe (HABP) with out PF & retirment,can i ask payment of PF With out contractul agrement.

  6. pension scheme is good for private employes but before lunching this law government must think MINIMUM WAGES[SALARY]which worker must get.there is no minimum wages act for labour working in any organisation yet due to lack of this law wokers are not getting sufficient money for their lively hood.
    for example any one is getting 400 birr or 500 birr per month how he will manage his family and children education etc
