A PROCLAMATION TO RATIFY THE MARRAKESH TREATY TO FACILITATE ACCESS TO PUBLISHED WORKS FOR PERSONS WHO ARE BLIND, VIRTUALLY IMPAIRED, AND PRINT DISABLED

PROCLAMATION NO. 1181-2020

A  PROCLAMATION TO RATIFY THE MARRAKESH TREATY TO FACILITATE ACCESS TO  PUBLISHED WORKS  FOR PERSONS WHO ARE BLIND, VIRTUALLY IMPAIRED, AND PRINT DISABLED

 

WHEREAS, the Marrakesh treaty to facilitate access to published   works   for   persons   who   are  blind,   visually impaired,  and   print  disabled was  adopted  in  Marekesh  on 27 July 2013;

 

WHEREAS,  the  Government  of  Federal  Democratic Republic  of  Ethiopia  signed  the  Marrakesh  Treaty  on  28 June 2013;

 

WHEREAS,  the  House  of  Peoples’    Representatives  of the  Federal  Democratic  Republic  of  Ethiopia  has  ratified the said Agreement at its session held on the    13th day of February , 2020;

 

NOW,  THEREFORE,  in  accordance  with Article  55 Sub-Articles (1) and (12) of the

Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:

  1. Short Title

This  Proclamation  may  be  cited  as  the  “  Marrakesh Treaty  to  facilitate  access  to

published   works  for persons who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print     disabled  Ratification     Proclamation     No· 1181/2020“

 

 

  1. Ratification of the Agreement

The Marrakesh Treaty to facilitate access to published works for persons who are blind, visually

impaired, or otherwise  print  disabled has  been  signed  in  Marekesh on 28th June 2013 is hereby ratified.

 

 

  1. Implementing Organ

The    Ministry    of    Education    and    the    Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office of the

Federal Democratic Republic  of  Ethiopia  are  given  the  responsibility  to cooperate with other relevant organs to implement and follow-up this Convention.

 

  1. Effective Date

This   Proclamation   shall   come   into   force   up   on publication in the Federal Negarit

Gazette.
