PROCLAMATION No.1052/2017

A PROCLAMATION TO RATIFY AGREEMENT BETWEEN  THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERAL DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ETHIOPIA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SUDAN  FOR THE DEVELOPMENT, OPERATION, AND MANAGEMENT OF STANDARD GAUGE RAILWAY NETWORK

WHEREAS, the Agreement between the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Government of the Republic of Sudan for the Development, Operation and Management of Standard Gauge Railway Network has been signed on December 4 , 2013 in Khartoum;

WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified the  Agreement at its session held on of 2nd November day of 2017;

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55 Sub-Articles (1) and (12) of the Constitution, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:

1.  Short Title

    This Proclamation may be cited as the “Agreement between the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Government of the  Republic of Sudan for the Development, Operation and Management of Standard Gauge Railway Network Ratification Proclamation No1052/2017’’.

2.  Ratification of the Agreement

    The Agreement between the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Government of the Republic of Sudan for the Development, Operation and Management of Standard Gauge Railway Network, signed on December 4, 2013 is hereby ratified.

3.  Implementing Organs

     The Ministry of Transport of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is hereby empowered to implement the Agreement.

4.  Effective Date

This Proclamation shall come into force up on publication in the Federal Negarit Gazette.

   Done at Addis Ababa, on this 1st day of December 2017.
