Proclamation No. 1208-2020- A proclamation to provide Legal personality to Ethiopian Council of Gospel Believers’ Churches and Members

PROCLAMATION No. 1208/2020

A PROCLAMATION TO PROVIDE LEGAL PERSONALITY FOR ETHIOPIAN COUNCIL OF GOSPEL BELIEVERS’ CHURCHES AND MEMBERS

WHEREAS, it has become necessary to provide legal personality of the national institution established by Ethiopian Evangelical Churches and Evangelical Churches Unions in accordance with citizens‘ rights to establish religious administration institutions based on Article 27(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia;

WHEREAS, it has become necessary to provide legal personality to Council of Ethiopian Evangelical Churches that represents large number of Evangelical Christian community in relation to the government as well as international level;

NOW THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. it is hereby proclaimed as follows

  1. Short Title

This Proclamation may be cited as “A proclamation to provide Legal personality to Ethiopian Council of Gospel Believers’ Churches and Members No. 1208/2020″.

2. Definitions

ln this Proclamation unless the otherwise requires:

l/ “ministries” means Organizations support church ;

2/ “members” means churches. Ministries, church unions which are founders of the council and others registered after.

3. Legal Personality

ln accordance with this proclamation Ethiopian Council of Gospel Believers‘ Churches and  members, religious institutions, organizations and societies established and to be established under it shall have legal personality requirements of especial registration.

4. Heading

The Council may be cited with its full name “Ethiopian Council of Gospel Believers’ Churches” and may also be called by abbreviation for convenience of emblem or stamp as may be necessary.

5. Budget

1/ The budget of the Council shall be covered by gifts obtained from in and out of the country, contributions collected from religious institutions and Gospel Believers community, service fees and aids allowed by the religion.

2/ Without prejudice to the provision of Sub-Article (1) of this Article the Council can engage in additional income generating and development activities pursuant to  other tax and commercial administration laws of the country.

3/ The Council and its members shall establish transparent finance and money administration system.

6. Working Language

The working language of the Council shall be determined by the memorandum based on the Federal and Regional working language.

7. Enactment of Law

The Council may issue Regulation for its internal activity and organization.

8. Transitory Provisions

All properties, duties and responsibilities obtained by the Ethiopian Council of Gospel Believers’ Churches and members before or after the effective date of this Proclamation shall be maintained.

9. Effective Date

This Proclamation shall enter into force on the date of publication in the Federal Negarit Gazette.
